The following colours are not naturally found in purebred Maine Coons:
• Chocolate
• Lilac
• Cinnamon
• Fawn
These colours require genes that are not part of the traditional Maine Coon gene pool. Their appearance in a pedigree cat may indicate crossbreeding somewhere in the ancestry or a breeding programme that does not follow traditional breed standards.
